CGDA inaugurates 171st DEFENCE PENSION ADALAT at ALLEPPEY, Kerala
Press Brief The 171st Defence Pension Adalat was organized by Controller of Defence Accounts, Chennai, Smt. Maulishree Pande, IDAS on 31st October and 1st November 2019 at Alleppey (Kerala). The Pension Adalat was inaugurated by the chief guest, Shri Sanjiv Mittal, IDAS, Controller General of Defence Accounts, New Delhi on 31st October 2019. Shri Mayank Sharma, PCDA (Navy) Mumbai also graced the occasion. In his inaugural address, CGDA outlined the steps taken by the Defence Accounts Department for providing quality service to the pensioners. Among the measures implemented include the issue of electronic PPOs, taking the Pension Adalats to the smaller towns and cities all over India and quick redressal of pensioners’ grievances. CGDA also mentioned that the Centralised Pension Disbursement System due to be unveiled shortly, will be a game changer. Under this system the entire process for receipt of documents, sanction of pension, disbursement of pension to the pensioners through their designated Bank Accounts and Accounting thereof would be automated. The Alleppey Adalat had initially received 442 applications out of which 190 representations were settled even before the Adalat commenced. The total financial value generated as a result of intervention of the Adalat was to the tune of Rs.1.76 crores. 86 pensioners benefitted financially and the highest individual beneficiary received Rs. 16.87 lakhs. During the inaugural function CGDA presented cheques/citations to a few pensioner whose cases were resolved at the instance of the Adalat. Representatives from Services HQrs, the three Pension Sanctioning Authorities, Record Offices (MRC, MEG, EME, AOC, DSC, Arty, BEG, ASC (S) & MEG&C), Directorate of Air Veterans, Naval Pension Office, Public Sector Banks (SBI Chennai, Trivandrum, Indian Bank, IOB, Syndicate Bank), DPDOs and Zilla Sainik Welfare Offices attended to the grievances of the Defence Pensioners. A total of 901 complaints/grievances were received out of which 405 cases were settled on the spot. The balance 496 cases will be processed by the Adalat Cell within the shortest possible time to ensure that all representations received are processed and settled.
