The undersigned has been directed
to refer to the above cited communications and to invite your kind
attention to Rule 16 of the SAS Rules, 2007 wherein the qualifying
marks for Paper-IX Fundamental of EDP have been prescribed as 30/60
(Theory Portion) and 20/40(Practical Portion) i.e. 50% of the
maximum marks of the Paper.
2. A proposal was mooted to
MoD(FIN) interalia with the request to reduce the qualifying standard
from 50% to 40% in Paper-IX.
3. MoD (Finance), vide their
letter No. F.26(1)/C/2007 dated 7th May 2008 have given their approval
to amend the relevant part of Rule 16 of the SAS Rules, 2007 as under:-
“Minimum pass marks for Paper-IX -
Fundamental of Electronic Data Processing (Theory and Practical)
are reduced from 50% to 40%. The element of separate minimum pass marks
in THEORY and PRACTICAL shall continue as one of the conditions for
qualifying this paper. In other words, the pass marks for THEORY
portion would be 24/60 marks and that of PRACTICAL portion it would be
16/40 marks.”
RULE-16 of the SAS Examination
Rules circulated under Hqrs. office Most Important Circular No. AN/
SAS/ 16200/ Order/ Vol-X dated 12th March, 2007 stand modified
accordingly.
4. Further, as a one time measure,
the candidates who have secured pass marks in MAIN PAPERS ( i.e, Paper
V,VI and VII) in the SAS Part-II examination conducted during
April,2008 but failed in Qualifying Paper(s) (i.e, Paper VIII and/or
IX) will be given TWO SPECIAL CHANCES to pass the Paper(s). Detailed
circular on the special chance examinations, tentatively scheduled in
Nov.2008 & April,2009 will be notified by Headquarters office. In
case they fail to pass the Qualifying Papers within TWO SPECIAL
CHANCES, the candidates will have to re-appear in all the Papers (i.e.
MAIN PAPERS as well as QUALIFYING PAPERS) of SAS Part-II Examination to
be held during, 2009. Promotional benefits/seniority to special
chance candidates, as above, will be given only from the day they are
promoted after qualifying in the Special Chance Examination.
5. This may widely be circulated
to all the Sections of Main Office and Sub Offices and be kept
prominently in the NOTICE BOARD. Copy the MOD(Fin) letter No.
F.26(1)/C/2007 dated 7th May 2008 is enclosed for record and ready
reference.
