International Conference on Defence Finance & Economics
International Conference on Defence Finance & Economics
The Defence Sector is one of the key sectors in India, with a wide-ranging mandate of
national security. The same is founded on efficient management of massive financial resources
and their optimum utilization, within a robust financial planning framework.
In an attempt to engage in global narratives on Defence finance and economics as well as
calibrate a sustainable blue-print for Defence expenditure in India, the Ministry of Defence
(Finance) is organizing an ‘International Conference on Defence Finance & Economics’ from 12th
to 14th April 2023 in New Delhi, which will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Defence Minister of
India.
The Conference aims to bring together distinguished policy makers, academics and
government functionaries in the field of Defence Finance and Economics in India and abroad,
with a view to exchange best practices and ideas in line with fast changing spectrum of security
strategies and policies worldwide. We envisage that this International Conference on Defence
Finance will be catalytic in enhancing the country’s defence preparedness, management of
financial resources and efficient execution of the Defence budget.
The discussions will cover contemporary issues like handling Defence finance and economics,
strategy for optimal resource allocation and utilization, including cost-effective logistics
management, Defence acquisition practices across the world, Defence research and
development, best practices on Manpower management, including pay and pensions
management of Defence personnel and structural oversight mechanisms within Defence
ecosystems.
The objective of the Conference is to understand the best practices, experience and expertise
across the world and benchmark processes to International standards. Through this event, we
aim to involve experts in the field of finance and economics and imbue our institutions with
academic discourse. The conference seeks to set the stage for collaborations with foreign
governments, international institutions and global leaders in the Defence space, to build on the
ongoing initiatives by the Government on indigenization and self-reliance in the Defence sector,
and conclude path-breaking reform agendas.
